About IGNOU
Established in 1985 by the Act of Parliament, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is known for offering high-quality teaching. What started with just 2 distance education programmes, today the university offers 333 UG, PG, PG diploma, PG certificate, advanced certificate, and certificate courses in both distance and online learning formats. IGNOU has built 21 Schools of Studies, 58 regional centres, 2382 learner support centres, and 25 overseas partner centres.
The university aims to make quality education affordable, flexible, and accessible. This plays a crucial role in the academic growth of learners who are unable to pursue education through regular mode. The learning methodology at the university promotes self-paced study. It includes printed learning material, audio-video content, counselling sessions, e-GyanKosh, and assignments. The university has also embraced online education, wherein they also offer virtual classes to the learners. In addition to all of this, IGNOU also provides previous year question papers, allowing learners to practise and prepare well for the Term End Examinations.
IGNOU Courses List With Fees
Courses offered by IGNOU, which align with the National Education Policy 2020, are highly flexible. The minimum course duration ranges from 6 months to 3 years, which can also be extended according to the time stipulated by the university. Under this approach, a learner can decide the pace of their course and choose to exit the programme at the designated points and obtain a diploma or a certificate. Some of the most popular UG programmes at IGNOU are BBA, BA, BCom, BCA, and B.Ed., and popular PG courses are MBA, MA, MCom, MCA, and MSc. The course curriculum is designed in collaboration with an external team of experts and in-house faculty members. Similarly, the audio-video content is also designed after multiple reviews by the course writers and faculty members. IGNOU follows the credit system for most of its programmes, and each subject is allotted credit. To attain a degree successfully, it is mandatory to complete all the assignments, practical (if any), projects, and the term-end examination.
The courses are designed to be pocket-friendly. The UG course fee ranges between INR 9,000 and INR 60,000, and the PG course fee ranges between INR 20,000 and INR 64,000. There is a separate examination and registration fee. A learner can pay the fees online through net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI. Furthermore, IGNOU offers a fee exemption as well as scholarship opportunities to the eligible students, making higher education a viable option for all.

IGNOU Admission Cycle
Admissions at IGNOU are conducted online in January and July every year. The admission forms can be submitted online at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. To begin the admission process, the first step is to create a user ID and a password for logging in, followed by uploading the required documents and submission of the admission form. After submission of the form, a learner can track their progress on the website. Once the admission is confirmed, a message is sent to the mobile number and the registered email ID. Before starting the application process, the most important thing is to ensure that you meet the minimum eligibility criteria of the course.
