How to Download your IGNOU Result?

Downloading your IGNOU grade card is easy if you follow the correct steps on the website. Here is a clear, step-by-step walkthrough that will help you avoid getting lost along the way:

Step 1: Visit the official IGNOU website. 

Step 2: On the home page, you’ll see a menu bar at the top. In the menu, locate an item called ‘student services’. Click on it to go to the next step. 

Step 3: In student services, search for the result option in the drop-down menu. 

Step 4: Once you are inside the results section, you will see a link for grade cards and click on it. On that page, there will be grade cards for all IGNOU programmes. 

Step 5: You will see a list of programme options, typically in four categories. Pick the one that matches the programme you are currently enrolled in. Choosing the wrong programme will show you incorrect or no results, so take a moment to select carefully.

Step 6: You are presented with a form requesting your information. Provide the enrolment number (first 9 digits) as written on the IGNOU ID card or the admit card. Any single error in entering a number will not load your grade card.

Understanding the IGNOU Grading System

What to Do if your IGNOU Grade Card has Errors?

It is completely normal for your IGNOU grade cards to have errors, missing information, incorrect course codes, wrong enrolment number, or even grades that do not reflect your actual performance. Here is what you should do if you spot a problem: 

1. Verify if the Grade Card has Been Updated: Grade cards are updated batchwise after result declaration. Your results may be announced, but the grade card may take a couple of days to show the changes. Please avoid raising a concern within 3-5 working days of the result announcement.  
2. Confirm Assignment Submission Status: If you see ‘I’ (Incomplete), it is likely that IGNOU has not received your assignment. Verify that you have received your assignment and get your study centre and/or regional centre to confirm with evidence.  
3. Contact the Regional Centre: Most of the queries related to grades will be addressed through the IGNOU Regional Centre. Bring your enrolment number, programme information and documents of relevance (receipts for assignments, examination hall ticket, etc.) with you when visiting them or when writing to them. 
4. Apply for Re-evaluation: If you feel that your term-end examination is not evaluated properly, you can request for re-evaluation of answer scripts within 30 days of declaration of result. The re-evaluation fee is very low and is approximately INR 750 per course for the latest cycles. The application form can be filled in the IGNOU student portal. 
5. Apply for a Certified Copy: If you want to check your marks before going for re-evaluation, you can request a certified copy of your evaluated answer script from IGNOU. This makes it easy to see where marks were lost. 

How to Apply for IGNOU Grade Card Correction?

Keep all your receipts and correspondence records. Corrections can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months, so initiate the process as soon as you spot an issue. If you find a factual error on your grade card, such as a wrong name, an incorrect enrolment number, or a missing course, here is the formal process to get it corrected:

Step 1: Write a formal application to the registrar, student evaluation division (SED), IGNOU, New Delhi.
